Design Evolution Architects began as the conglomeration of three aspiring practices within the Malaysian architectural field. In the nineties, the respective principals of these practices were once members of the core project team for a local architectural firm before splintering off into different configuration. However, the new millennium finds that core team reconciled but this time within the autonomy of their very own practice together.
With Design Evolution Architects, they bring together their inherent strengths and attributes, drawing from their respective academic background, influences andexperiences.This would naturally generate an environment for a practice with a wide database from where varying resources, expertise and skills could be tapped from in the handling of any architectural task. Order within the variations are maintained with the establishment of certain Codes derived from shared approaches and goals for Design Evolution
Design Code
The Design Code for architectural design stands for the process of creative problem solving. Design proposals are products of an evolutionary process that is generated by the constant addressing of problems and parameters within each given brief. This precludes the trappings of design merely through preconceived forms, images or icons while the proposal struggles to make good sense the requirements of the brief.
Clients Code
The primary concern in design solutions are always the ultimate users, who are not necessarily the contractual client. The latter are the honourable sponsors in the quest to seek the best of solutions for the end-users of the product. This forms the basis for a Clients Code within Design Architrects. The attitude towards clients is to work with rather than for, in serving the designated users whoever they may be.
Project Code
Inspired by differeing working experiences in offices abroad, the Project Code of Design Evolution is based on the premise that any project undertaken will be run and executed by teams of architects or architectural graduates only, in order to ensure full commitment and maintain optimal continuity, thus maximising efficiency to the project and the client. Architects undertaking any project will have a hands-on approach from the conception stages through to the execution stages, including its complete delineation. It is imperative that such a dedicated approach be to ensure that what is realised in the end is as close as possible to what was conceived in the beginning.
In conclusion, the question of architectural styles will never be an issue within Design Evolution. Each project is deemed exclusive onto itself. There will always be the desire to produce designs that evolve from what has been, whatever it may be. What has past are lessons for what will come. The intention is not to concoct a superficial need to reinvent the wheel, but an overt response to the indisputable fact that change is the only thing certain as there is never only one deterministic way to anything; especially not through time.
Nonetheless, whatever the task, the Vitruvian basis for architecture of utility, structure and of course, beauty will always apply. As to the latter, the dynamic of beauty at Design Evolution however, is governed by the aesthetics of truth.
